now have blonde highlights in my hair. Big, chunky pieces that my colorist, Vinnie, called "fun". This is the lightest color my hair has ever had and I love it because it's toned down, not too yellow and not brassy and orange, which usually equals cheap, "Hi, I'm a skank ho" hair. Yeah, high school girl-bad-bleach-job hair. I even have some special Bumble & Bumble violet shampoo stuff that's supposed to lighten and maintain the color of my hair.
Where did I go to get my hair colored you ask? An awesome salon in Kensington called Diesel. I love this place. It's set to look like an artsy urban garage, complete with Craftsman rolling tool boxes housing all of the Loreal and B&B product, dirty, gritty and gasoline-looking oil-splattered floor (continuously swept by the salon assistant). Rogina is my stylist and Vinnie from Sacramento is my colorist. Both are Vidal Sassoon-educated and from out of town.
Also visited my mom's new 1.something-million dollar home in Scripps Ranch. It's part of the Warmington Collection, about 4,000 square feet and has a backyard that's bigger than my condo. It's not finished yet... In fact, it looks like this:
