No, that is not a figment of your imagination! That is Mark! The sexy English man I call LOVERDUDE! He rollerblades through his condo like the wind beneath my wings!! Faster than the speed of gas! It's HAMSTERFISHTASTIK!
Wow, that picture makes him look like he's taller than the door.
Mark was thinking, Is this a figment of my imagination? as I excitedly pop out from his bedroom. His ear glowing a bright Bluetooth blue, his body looking quite door-height, we hug and kiss and I hear repetitions of "This is so surrreal." Awesome, my job is done and I have succeeded. An early birthday present-slash-surprise that had my boyfriend confused as to where his surprise UPS "package" was (which was not at the front door but rather, inside the door...)
I'd never planned a surprise visit, and I swear to goodness I thought he knew after my multiple slips ("My friends are excited for me to visit you!" "When? In November?" "Uh, YEAH. Yeah, in November!")
The weekend was perfect, hanging out in Evanston, visiting the music section of Borders and trading musical barcodes, much to the delight of our rock-n-roll-inclined ears (although I wasn't too fond of the instrumental-opera-Radiohead cover CD that he swooshed underneath my barcode reader thingamabob)...watching that 40 Year Old Virgin movie (hilarious, and even better because our awesome Cuban restaurant, Versailles, had a brief cameo in one scene)... going to the Art Institute and checking out the FABBBBUUULOOUS Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit. I loved every bit of it. Friends with VanGogh? Aww, you're my friend too! Plus I have a bunch of your little poster replicas from Montmartre. Makes me want to be Yvette Guilbert, with her trademark long, black gloves, for Halloween... One of my favorite places to visit in Chicago is the Chicago Botanic Gardens, which we strolled through with Mark's mom... We were smooshed in the el... Hung out at the top of the Sears Tower... watched one of my favorite movies, L'Auberge Espagnole ... passed out from Benadryl...went to the nature museum and walked amidst thousands of butterflies, many of whom just completed metamorphosis and didn't know how to flap their wings ... seeing a window display that included a sleepy bear wearing a tie-dyed shirt (inside of a store that I think is called SuperFine Things)...made sushi (sushi made by an English man is DELICIOUS!) ... took a nap together ... wondered how cicadas could sound like electric cats... and had conversations with ourselves in which Mark said to himself, "Dude, I like your voice." Then laughter. I love hanging out with my boyfriend and best buddydude. I can't wait to actually live in the same city... And yay! He visits in 2 weeks!
PS...seeing lightning from inside an airplane is beautiful, awesome, and frightening all at once! I loved it.
