Oh, dear. I have to admit, I haven't been blogging as much because...
...I've been eating too much (and drinking too much Vietnamese coffee)! I guess it doesn't help that the BF and I not only eat out often, but we cook and bake at home often, too! Add all the holiday parties, the Pampered Chef party, the family feasts, and the friend fiestas... that's a load of food.
HAPPY NEW YEAR & HAPPY EATING!
Start your year off with a bang and head over to Nobu in the Gaslamp Quarter. You won't be disappointed. Everything from the Toro to the Yuzusicle (white chocolate sake cream enrobed with yuzu gelee and coated with toffee crunch) is absolute heaven. The Napa Cabbage Steak with Summer Truffles was UNBELIEVABLE and I loved the Tuna Tataki with Tosazu.
Here are some images of my nourriture et boisson, end of year '07:
After purchasing my favorite shampoo and conditioner at the Uptown Bumble & Bumble salon in Manhattan (and the superwonderful SumoTech for the bf - it worked wonders for me when I had my short & spiky cut), we had dinner at the lively and delicious Asian-fusion restaurant in Union Square, Republic.
If you ever visit the Union Square/Gramercy Park/Flatiron district in Manhattan, check out this restaurant and order the Coconut-Crusted Shrimp with Mango Tamarind sauce, the Young Coconut Juice with basil seeds, and the Black Sesame Ice Cream. If you don't mind sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers, Republic is a good place to hit up for dinner.
YAY I get to see my friend Janet tomorrow!!! We have nothing super-spectacular planned for the rest of the week. We'll probably hang low and watch Blondie and Lily Allen on the Today Show on Friday. There's also a party we've been invited to at Nikki Midtown, so we'll see if we're up for it!

I don't know what the hell I ate at Madras Cafe (it might have been a huge dosa pancake filled with potatoes?), but it was really good. All foods are presented on stainless steel dishes (same goes for the water in the carafe). I don't even know what the dessert I ate was called, but it had fried cream of wheat with raisins and was DELICIOUS.
Kung Food was awesome. You order by the pound. I was confused when I ordered - "Can I have a quarter of a pound of the American potatoes?" You don't want to order like that LOL Just ask for a scoop of something. The potatoes were delicious, and so was the spinach cheese lasagna. Highly recommended. The chocolate coconut cake that I ordered to go was a little bit more dry than I am used to when it comes to Vegan cakes. My experience is limited to the delicious and moist cakes and pastries at the Blind Faith Cafe in Evanston, Illinois.
